18+ and ESU 9 Staff Community Service Project

The 18+ students have been traveling to Crossroads Center for an “on the job training” experience during the fall semester. At this site they have learned many skills used in a kitchen that serves several people. Occasionally they helped in the thrift store where they sorted items and stocked shelves. The students have enjoyed learning new skills and becoming new friends with their coworkers. They decided they would like to show their appreciation by conducting a food/supply drive. With the help of ESU 9 Staff members, the students collected items to donate to Crossroads Center. Items collected included cleaning supplies, toilet and facial tissues, non-perishable food items, personal care items, diapers, as well as $60 in cash. With the cash the students decided to buy some dairy products (cheese, sour cream, and milk) as well as choose a name off of Crossroad’s giving tree and buy a gift card for a resident living there. We had a great time shopping and delivering the goodies.
